How Does A Whole House Water Filter Work?

The AquaOx whole house water filter unites science and technology with extreme fluidity. Water passes through six different filter media— arranged in layers within the purification tank. Each successive layer, which contains a generous quantity of the required media, has been scientifically engineered to remove a specific set of contaminants. Each layer has also been optimized to ensure sufficient water contact time for removal of the targeted impurities.

Vortech™ plates keep the media separated at two key points and are used in conjunction with the sanitizing backwash feature to keep the media layers clean and fluffy. Cleaning is critical because it minimizes the degradation of the filter media.

The Vortech™ plates also minimize channeling, which is when water finds the quickest path through the filter media, thereby diminishing filtering effectiveness.

Generous quantities are employed to allow sufficient contact time with the water necessary to be effective. KDF®55 process media works to rid your water of chlorine, lead, mercury and other metals. The redox reaction also inhibits the growth of bacteria, algae and fungi. As an added benefit, KDF media reduces lime scale, mold and fungi in your tub or shower.

Filter-Ag is a very efficient filter medium for the removal of suspended material and turbidity. Its use means less pressure loss and finer filtration is possible because of its light weight and irregular surface characteristics.

Activated Coconut Shell Carbon is a superior product for the removal of chlorine, chlorinated solvents and VOC’s. It is also harder and can tolerate more backwashing than bituminous coal based carbon.

Centaur Catalytic Adsorptive Carbon removes both chloramines and hydrogen sulfide from potable water. Centaur is outstanding in VOC removal, taste and odor control and operating efficiency when compared with traditional activated carbons.
